Peppa Pig — Peppa Big in Dutch — has been running since 2004, and its best trick is length. An episode is five minutes. Something small happens. It resolves. Sixty-two of them on KidsTube.
What it is
Domestic comedy for very young children. Daddy Pig loses his glasses, the playgroup carries on, Peppa falls out with Suzy Sheep and makes it up again; there is ice cream, a train trip, a goldfish. The scale is deliberately tiny — the drama of a four-year-old's day, taken seriously.
The drawing does most of the work. Flat colours, simple shapes, characters who face the camera; a child who does not speak the language follows it anyway.

What to know
Two honest notes. Peppa is sometimes rude to her father, and some parents mind that more than others — better to know than to discover. And the five-minute length is a genuine advantage: this is one of the few things on the site where a child will watch one and then be willing to stop, which counts for a lot at the end of a day.
