PJ Masks: superheroes at bedtime, for four to six
Three children go to bed, put on their pyjamas, and become Catboy, Owlette and Gekko. Seventy-four episodes on KidsTube, from the Dutch Disney Channel.
What it is
Superhero adventure at preschool scale. Every episode has a problem, a villain — Romeo, Luna Girl, Night Ninja — and a plan that goes wrong before it goes right. The lesson is usually about listening to each other, and it is delivered without much subtlety, which is appropriate for the audience.
What is on KidsTube
Seventy-four videos, mostly single episodes in the Disney Channel NL dub, plus a set of songs — Zingende Superhelden, a Christmas one — and episodes built around each of the three characters in turn.
What to know
This is the loudest thing in our kleuters section, and there is mild peril in every episode by design: someone is trapped, something is stolen, a plan fails in the dark. Four- to six-year-olds generally take that in their stride and enjoy the resolution. Two- and three-year-olds often do not, and despite the pyjamas this is not the one to put on before bed.
Dutch dub. The action carries it if you do not speak the language, though rather more of the plot sits in the dialogue here than in Buurman en Buurman.
